Performance Evaluation of TFRC for Video Streaming over Wireless Network

Wireless networks support communication like wired networks. As devices are connectionless, communication is difficult. It is possible to send the data in wireless networks, but sending multimedia data is still a challenging issue. Because of increase of the multimedia traffic rapidly over the internet, there is need for mechanisms for transmission of multimedia data to the destination properly. Main reasons for unsuccessful transmission are congestion, link errors, delay, and noise etc. One protocol which is reliable and supports congestion control is TCP Friendly Rate Control (TFRC). This paper implements video streaming using TFRC over both static and dynamic wireless networks by using Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV) routing protocol and evaluates TFRC performance in both networks. The intention of using this protocol is to know how it works when compared with other protocols. The simulation is performed using NS-2 simulator.
