Relevance of Nehru's Economic Policy

This paper contains the ideas of Nehru on economic policy. It is a matter, which widely accepted that the suitability of the central planning initiated by Nehru in India to achieve the desired objectives of Socio-economic development. During and after Nehru’s era the continuation of plans and adoption of mixed economy are the pioneering steps for achievement of social justice, equity and employment generation. His vision in creating local government in the form of Panchayat Raj bodies continues to guide our rural development efforts as well as the socio-economic and political life of rural India. Nehru put much emphasis on science and technology as a means of attaining food grain, self-sufficiency and rural uplift.
