भारतीय हस्तशिल्प का इतिहास

भारत प्राचीन काल से ही अपनी कला और संस्कृति के लिए प्रसिद्ध रहा है। भारत की कलाकृतियों को देश-विदेश में प्राचीन काल से ही सराहा जाता रहा है। भारत देश में प्रदेशों की अपनी अलग ही कला शैलियां हैं जो उनकी पहिचान है, जिन्हें लोक कला के नाम से जाना जाता है। इसी प्रकार भारत में हस्तशिल्प का कारोबार भी बहुत प्रसिद्ध है। मोहनजोदड़ो, हड़प्पा आदि समय की कलाकृतियों, आभूषणों, बर्तनों आदि में भी भारतीय हस्तशिल्प का बेजोड़ नमूना देखने को मिलता है। हस्तशिल्प कारोबार देश की अर्थव्यवस्था में भी महत्वपूर्ण योगदान देता है। हमारे देश के हस्त शिल्प से बनी चीजों की विदेशों में बड़ी डिमांड है, जिससे देश की अर्थव्यवस्था पर एक सकारात्मक प्रभाव पड़ता है। आज भी हस्तशिल्प उद्योगों में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने वाले राज्य हैं मध्य प्रदेश, उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार, झारखंड, छत्तीसगढ़, राजस्थान, उड़ीसा आदि। अभी भी उत्तर प्रदेश के हस्तशिल्प का कारोबार विश्व प्रसिद्ध है, जैसे बनारस की साड़ियां, लखनऊ की चिकनकारी, बरेली का जरी कारोबार, रामपुर का एप्लीक, आगरा के जूते, अलीगढ़ के ताले, भदोही का कालीन, फर्रुखाबाद की चूड़ियां, कन्नौज का इत्रा आदि पूरे विश्व में मशहूर हैं। पारंपरिक हस्तकला (हाथ से कताई-बुनाई) भारत की विरासत का एक बड़ा हिस्सा रही है। खेती की तरह ही यह क्षेत्रा भी भारत के बड़े हिस्से को रोजगार उपलब्ध कराता है। हाथ से निर्मित प्राचीन दुर्लभ वस्तुओं और विशेष पारंपरिक संरचना के प्रति रुचि को देखते हुए हथकरघा व्यवसाय व्यापक और सार्वभौमिक रूप से फैल रहा है, हालांकि हस्थशिल्प उद्योग की वित्तीय स्थिति लगातार विघटित हो रही है। बुनकरों द्वारा देखे जाने वाले मुद्दों में विश्वव्यापी बाजारों में प्रतिस्पर्धा, कम वेतन, तैयार माल की खराब बाजार लागत और खरीदारों तक पहुंचने में असमर्थता शामिल हैं। (संध्या रानी दास, 2015)
