The Problem of Meaning

Authors(1) :-Dr. Pascal Beck

Philosophical attempts dealing with the nature and criteria of meaning can be brought under the title 'The 'Theory of Meaning'. In contemporary western philosophy it was felt that the most of the philosophical problems are linguistic problems, and they can be solved by clarifying the meaning of language. For this task they adopted analytic measures and methods. Some of the theories of meaning are denotation theory of meaning, picture theory of meaning and verification theory of meaning which developed in the western contemporary analytic philosophy.
