Critical Analysis on Pranvaha Srotas
Authors(1) :-Dr. Jitendra Kumar
Srotas are essential for sustaining the fundamental physiological functions of the human body in addition to playing a crucial part in the disease's appearance. A vital component of the human body are the Srotas. They serve as routes of communication, particularly for the temporary tissues and nutrients that are needed to produce permanent Dhatu. Srotas are the systems that carry or circulate the Doshas and Dhatu (tissues) or their elements to the various organs. According to the Acharya Charaka, the Hṛidaya and Maha Srotas, while Acharya Sushruta had described Hṛidaya and Rasavahi Dhamni as the Moolasthan (primary sites) for the Pranavaha Srotas. Both Acharya Charaka and Sushruta identify the Hridaya (heart) as the primary site of the Pranavaha Srotas due to its essential role in Pranavahan Karma. Acharya Sharangdhar, while discussing Shvasana Kriya, notes that the Prana, referred to as Pawana, moves to gather Ambarpiyush after interacting with the Hridaya. Rasavahi Dhamani are the arteries that assist in delivering Phuphphusa pure, nutrient-rich blood to Hridaya, and from there to all bodily tissues. Mahasrotas is an organ of respiration. While explaining the organogenesis of the body Acharya Susruta opines, Phuphphusa as “Shonita Phena Prabhava”.
