The Situational analysis of Child Trafficking in Delhi NCR : An Empirical Study
Authors(2) :-Faiz Khan, Dr. Chandrakala Diyali Child trafficking remains one of the most pressing human rights violations affecting the lives of countless children in India, particularly in urban and peri-urban regions like Delhi NCR. This study aims to provide a situational analysis of child trafficking in the Delhi National Capital Region through a mixed-method approach, with a primary focus on empirical data collected via a Google Form questionnaire. The research explores key aspects such as public awareness, socio-economic drivers, the role of media, the effectiveness of governmental and non-governmental interventions, and the influence of structural factors like poverty, corruption, and global economic forces. The sample included individuals from diverse backgrounds including students, NGO workers, legal professionals, and government employees. Quantitative analysis of the responses revealed significant gaps in awareness, the inadequacy of educational institutions in addressing the issue, and a shared concern regarding the weak implementation of existing laws. The study further highlights how poverty, lack of employment opportunities, and demand for cheap labor act as major contributors to the persistence of trafficking in the region.Findings indicate that while media plays an important role in spreading awareness, stronger collaboration between government, civil society, and international organizations is necessary for effective intervention. Based on these insights, the study offers strategic recommendations to strengthen preventive, rehabilitative, and legal mechanisms to combat child trafficking in Delhi NCR.
